We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming you to our Christmas parties and singalong. Thank you for joining us and for joining in!
Learning Together
We enjoy the range of experiences on offer, making daily choices about our learning and who we play with.

BUILDING on our interests
Through careful observation and by working together, the practitioners in nursery always endeavour to meet the children’s developmental needs and follow their interests where possible.
Recently the adults enriched the block play and loose parts area with some simple signs and wheelbarrows. Many of the children were interested in the environmental print and used the signs along with our mobile fences to cordon off areas of the ‘building site’ and alert others to potential hazards. They also highlighted the importance of wearing PPE such as hard hats.
A visitor who works in construction came to tell us more about these kinds of things and answer some of our questions.
Some of us then went on to draw, measure up and plan for a new extension we’d like to build.
Our local community
PLEASE DO SPEAK TO US IF YOU CAN ACCOMPANY US ON ANY WALKING TRIPS TO ENHANCE THE CHILDREN’S LEARNING EXPERIENCES.
Local walks allow us to explore the natural and built environment and to learn more about the shops, services and people in our community.
Recently we have been to the train station, the park, a pedestrian crossing, the corner shop, the streets where some of us live…
We are writers too!
We find lots of purposes for writing in our play and enjoy making marks with a range of tools.

Healthy habits
In nursery we try to discuss and adopt healthy habits that are good for our bodies and our minds.
- We are physically active – gym hall, Little Garden, Secret Garden, yoga
- We spend time outdoors every day
- We brush our teeth
- We help to choose and prepare snack before eating with our friends
- We evaluate our learning and development and think about next steps
- We celebrate our successes and achievements
- We try to be kind and include everyone
Wet, wet, wet!
Water play, indoors and out, allows us to:
- engage in imaginary play
- explore capacity and develop language such as full, empty, more, enough
- explore cause and effect
- take risks and solve problems
- engage in discussion and thinking about mixing, dissolving and separating
- use interesting descriptive vocabulary and onomatopoeia, playing with words and sounds
- explore how water changes state
- make predictions
- investigate how objects move…
