Nursery Trip
Our nursery trip to The Royal Concert Hall is taking place on the afternoon of the 28th March 2017 . Children who normally attend for a morning session should attend as normal in the morning but pick up time will change to 11.30 am on that day to allow for early lunches for the trip.
Facilities will be made available for you to lunch with your child in the school dining hall; if you intend to do this, please pick up your child from the nursery door at 11.30am and take them to the main school entrance where you will find the gym hall. Tables will be made available for you there.
Toilets
Please toilet your child before you meet back with the staff at nursery( P1 toilets will be made available on this day) . The bus is due to leave at 12. 30 sharp so we would appreciate your efforts to return to nursery to register your child for the trip at 12.15pm sharp.
We are sure we will all enjoy the day – thank you to everyone who offered to help on the day. As always it is very much appreciated.

Silver Award -Family Friendly Nursery
After our recent assessment, we have been granted a Silver Award as a Family Friendly Nursery. We are delighted that we have received this award. We would also like to thank our Parents who took part in the recent associated assessment; they were very complimentary about our service. Onwards and upwards and looking forward to achieving the Gold Award next!
We very much encourage and appreciate parental involvement in our nursery setting. Our planning tree allows us to gain insight into what your child enjoys outside of nursery and this ensures that we continue to be successful in meeting the individual needs of your child in line with the Getting It Right For Every Child ( GIRFEC) document. Please feel free to look at our planning document on the wall and place a leaf on the planning tree telling us about your child’s interests. We will then use this information to inform our future planning.
Information about future opportunities to become involved in our Nursery life can also be found in the newsletters and on our notice boards.
On your marks, get set – go!
It was our Sports’ Day yesterday (May 20) and we were all sooooooooo excited as our Mummies, Daddies and family members all came to watch us!
We had to listen very carefully for the whistle as this meant we could go!
We ran a flat race and a novelty race – we had so much fun!
Waiting our turn!
Our families were so proud of us – as were our teachers!
The Mummies and Daddies even had a turn too – they were so fast!
Well done to everyone who participated!
Open Sessions
Planes, Trains and Automobiles!
This term we are learning about Transport and different types of vehicles. The boys and girls have created a ‘Braidbar Wheels Garage’ to develop their understanding of this topic through imaginative play. Most recently the children have been sorting vehicles into different categories and creating tyre tracks with different media.
Here are a few things that we want to find out about:
“How do submarines sink under water and float?” – Andrew
“I want to learn how to draw a truck.” – Christian
“How do helicopters fly?” – Olivia
Happy New Year!
Santa – we know him!
The children had a wonderful time; singing, dancing and playing lots of games at the Christmas party yesterday.
We had a lovely guest of honour – Santa! He told the children that they were all on the ‘good list’ and that the elves were busily preparing for Christmas Eve. He even left an early present for everyone!
Thank you to Santa and the reindeer for making the long journey to see us.
Here are some comments from the children…
“I loved his suit – it was very soft.” – Olivia
“We gave him a present to say thank you too.” – Lewis C
” I liked singing Jingle Bells with him.” – Ethan C
Happy Holidays from everyone in the Nursery – we look forward to updating you with our news in 2015!
Getting Ready!
Zoolab Visit
We were all so excited when Rachel from Zoolab came to visit us on Friday. She came with a special bag filled with lots of interesting creatures. We thought it was really funny that the spider was called Sophie as we have two Sophie’s in our class but definitely not as hairy as our new eight-legged friend!
We made sure to use ‘kind hands’ when touching the mini-beasts and remembered to wash them thoroughly before we had snack.
Thank you Rachel and Sophie!
