Super stories

The children always make it clear when they have particularly enjoyed a book and wish to further explore characters and themes.

Recent favourites have been Supertato, When Darkness Slipped In and books about animals, both fiction and non-fiction.

We really liked it when P6 came to read to us during Book Week Scotland.

Technologies, literacy and maths

Using programmable toys has allowed us to explore and learn skills in several areas.

We have learned to use positional and directional language; basic coding giving instructions using ‘first, next, then’ etc.; perseverance; turn-taking and how to look after equipment.

It was really exciting to see the toys move after telling them where to go. We liked making challenges for each other.

Secret Garden skills

When playing in the secret garden we…

  • solve problems
  • work together
  • manage risks
  • are creative
  • use our imaginations
  • fall down and get back up again
  • explore the world around us with our five senses

I NEED SOME WATER FOR TEA.        HERE YOU GO.

WE’RE MAKING HOT CHOCOLATE.

IT FEELS ROUGH.

THE MONSTER IS COMING! QUICK!

THERE’S A SECRET PLACE TO HIDE.

Fantastic fireworks 💥

Lots of us were excited by fireworks we saw in the sky. We made our own fireworks using art and drama skills and we used great descriptive language to describe how they look and sound.

BANG!

CRACKLE!

WHOOSH!

It was all different colours.

It exploded like a big ball in the sky.

They were like stars.
