Planes, Trains and Automobiles!

This term we are learning about Transport and different types of vehicles. The boys and girls have created a ‘Braidbar Wheels Garage’ to develop their understanding of this topic through imaginative play.  Most recently the children have been sorting vehicles into different categories and creating tyre tracks with different media.

Here are a few things that we want to find out about:

“How do submarines sink under water and float?” – Andrew

“I want to learn how to draw a truck.” – Christian

“How do helicopters fly?” – Olivia

Santa – we know him!

Santa!

The children had  a wonderful time; singing, dancing and playing lots of games at the Christmas party yesterday.

We had a  lovely guest of honour – Santa! He told the children that they were all on the ‘good list’ and that the elves were busily preparing for Christmas Eve. He even left an early present for everyone!

Thank you to Santa and the reindeer for making the long journey to see us.

Here are some comments from the children…

“I loved his suit – it was very soft.” – Olivia

“We gave him a present  to say thank you too.” –  Lewis C

” I liked singing Jingle Bells with him.” – Ethan C

Happy Holidays from everyone in the Nursery – we look forward to updating you with our news in 2015!

Getting Ready!

The boys and girls have been busily practising for our Christmas Concert this coming Friday.

They are all so excited to be performing in front of their families and can’t wait to display their talents!

Nursery Christmas Concert – Friday 12 December 11am  and 2.45pm.

We hope to see you there!

Having a ball at Mini-kickers!

We have just finished a block of learning at P.E with John who taught us some new football skills. We learned how to control the ball, touch pass and co-operate with a partner. We listened very carefully to his instructions and had to ‘hug’ the ball when we weren’t using it.

Here are some of our thoughts about our time with John…

Liam – ” I loved the warm-up game – ‘banana’ tig.”

Isobel – I liked it when we used the ball to be the steering wheel of a car – beep-beep!”

Conor – “It was hard to roll the ball to Ayaan. It kept rolling away but I tried again and then I could do it!”

Murray and Cameron – “We liked passing the ball to each other.”  “It was tricky trying to keep our feet together – the ball sometimes rolled out!”

Maisie – “I hugged the ball to keep it safe.”

Arlo – “I really liked being the leader and my partner had to follow me.”

Zoolab Visit

We were all so excited when Rachel from Zoolab came to visit us on Friday. She came with a special bag filled with lots of interesting creatures. We thought it was really funny that the spider was called Sophie as we have two Sophie’s in our class but definitely not as hairy as our new eight-legged friend!

We made sure to use ‘kind hands’ when touching the mini-beasts and remembered to wash them thoroughly before we had snack.

Thank you Rachel and Sophie!

Autumn is here…

On Monday we were looking for signs of Autumn in the ‘Secret Garden’. Using magnifying glasses we found autumnal leaves, wiggly worms and conkers. We have collected some leaves for our discovery area and made some leaf rubbings for our wall display. We were nice and cosy wrapped up in our all-in-one suits!

Spooky Spooky!

Last Friday we all had a frightful time at Nursery!

The boys and girls were replaced by ghouls, pirates, spiders and superheroes!

We all had fun ‘bobbing’ for apples and pining the heart on the skeleton.

Woooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Animal Fun!

We have been busy learning about animals. We are looking forward to Zoolab’s visit where we will be able to hold and ask questions about the creatures.
