Festivals and celebrations

We have used Burns Day and Chinese New Year as recent contexts for learning.

We have:

  • tasted and described some new foods
  • compared traditions to how we celebrate things in our families
  • played with words and sounds in Scots language
  • developed mark-making skills
  • explored form, colour and line in art
  • worked together to follow a recipe
  • shared the food we have prepared with our friends

THIS IS TARTAN. IT’S SCOTTISH.

LUGS ARE EARS!

HOOSE AND GAIRDEN ARE LIKE HOUSE AND GARDEN.

THIS IS THE FLAG OF SCOTLAND. I KNOW SOME OTHER FLAGS TOO.

THE SHORTBREAD SMELLS GOOD!

I TRIED THE HAGGIS. I HAVEN’T HAD IT BEFORE. IT HAD A FUNNY SMELL.
