In December we learned about the story of Christmas and what Christians believe. We talked about Christmas and other celebrations in our families too. We found that some things were the same and some were different.
“We eat special food – cake!”
“I get new clothes.”
“I go to see my family.”
“My cousins come and we play.”
“I like all the presents!”
Building on the children’s knowledge and interests we developed:
- literacy skills by following instructions to make Christmas pudding and decorations
- fine motor skills by wrapping presents and creating decorations
- numeracy and maths skills by collecting and organising items in the playroom and outside
- confidence and an enjoyment of performing together in our Christmas show
amongst other things.
