On Thursday 17<sup>th<\/sup> November, Barrhead High School took part in the contest which was held at St Luke\u2019s High School, Barrhead.\u00a0\u00a0 The team consisted of: Chairperson Richard Barr; Main Speaker Richard Halligan &amp; Proposer of the vote of thanks Ross McFarlane.\u00a0 The boys drew the short straw on the night \u2013 having to speak first \u2013 a frightening proposition for even the most confident of speakers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Nevertheless, the team acquitted themselves very well.\u00a0 The theme of the presentation was \u2018Enough of all this doom &amp; gloom!\u2019\u00a0 The boys were able to put together a strong performance, eliciting praise from those in attendance as confident, courteous &amp; professional in their approach.\u00a0 Although they did not win on this occasion, the strong performance is an encouraging sign for future competitions.\u00a0 Well done!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) has, for many years, run public speaking competitions for young people.
