At Barrhead High School we are committed to Developing the Young Workforce and we are continuously striving to improve the experience of\u00a0 our young people. We have redesigned our pastoral and PSHE\u00a0 curriculum in line with the Career Education Standard to ensure learners are preparing for their future pathways. Learners follow a carefully planned curriculum including lessons on skills for work, work experience, the recruitment process, CV writing, cover letters, informal and formal interview skills and job hunting in the digital world.<\/p>\n

Skills Development Scotland<\/strong> (SDS)<\/strong> Careers Advice in Barrhead High School<\/strong><\/p>\n

School Careers Room – Support Room 3 on 1st<\/sup> Floor.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

SDS Careers Adviser:<\/strong> Claire Anderson \u2013 Days in school \u2013 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n

SDS Careers Adviser:<\/strong> Aileen Wilson \u2013 Days in school \u2013 Monday.<\/p>\n

SDS supports pupils to develop their career management skills which will help prepare young people to make confident choices about their future transition from school and beyond.<\/p>\n

SDS encourages all pupils to register on www.myworldofwork.co.uk<\/a> to access a universal all age career information and guidance service.<\/p>\n

SDS Advisers will speak to all year groups during the school year.\u00a0 Further assistance will be provided to targeted senior phase pupils via 1-1 career coaching support and S2 pupils during subject choice time.<\/p>\n

Any pupil can request to meet the Careers Adviser at any time during the school year via their Pastoral Care Teacher.\u00a0 Pupils can also drop in to see the Careers Adviser for any careers related queries during lunchtimes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.<\/p>\n

Careers support is also available once pupils have left school at the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Centre in Barrhead Foundry.<\/p>\n
