PUBLIC SPEAKING

“On Tuesday 7th November, our senior public speaking team who competed in the Rotary Youth Speaks competition at Mearns Castle High School.  Kirsty gave an insightful speech on the male struggle and why men should not be left out of the gender equality conversation.  It was a hot topic this year, with both Mearns Castle High School and Williamwood High School delivering speeches that revolved around positive discrimination in the workplace and sexual harassment.  Our team performed exceptionally well – and came second! The judges commented that it was incredibly difficult to choose winners this year as the standard was so high.  There was only 15 points difference across the board.  Our team received much praise with regard to topic and delivery from the adjudicators (and many positive comments from audience members).  The night was a great success and an absolute credit to the team’s hard work and preparation.  Well done, seniors!”
