Morse Code Music

In music, we have been learning all about Grażyna Bacewicz, a famous female composer who lived in Poland during WW2. She composed her ‘Overture’ while Poland was under occupation, and weaved the morse code symbol for ‘V’ into her piece, to symbolise victory. Primary Seven have enjoyed learning about this fascinating music, and have created some morse code hidden messages of their own. Can you decode any? Here’s a clue, some of the words include: gas, tank, raid and bomb! Good luck and enjoy!

World War Two

Our topic this term is World War Two. They say it is a very fun experience and hard work. We have learnt lots of interesting new facts and stories. So far we have learnt about the causes of world war two, and used our research skills to create a timeline to show the key events. We have used chalk to draw the flags of the Axis and Allies outside. Here is a Google Slide Show to showcase some of our fantastic learning so far! Enjoy 🙂

Science – sound and vibration

In science we learned about sound. We did lots of practical experiments to learn how sound travels.

In ICT we used a search engine to research information on how animals communicate. We selected appropriate information and then created a PowerPoint presentation using Google slides using the information we researched.

Leonna – I really like the tuning fork experiment when the water flew out of the cup.

Zoe – I was interested in learning how animals can communicate with each other.

Nathan M  – I enjoyed watching the video clips showing how sound travels through the air.

Cerys – I find the different chords quite tricky.

Jayden – I am enjoying learning an instrument

Sam J   – I was a bit nervous when we had to play during our assembly.

We demonstrated our fitness and showed photographs of our work on fitness.  We presented animations telling the story of the battle of Stirling bridge. We learned and sang a song called Don’t Give Up by Bruno Mars.

Kelsie – Our assembly was very successful.

Amy – It was a lot of fun learning our words and song.

Paige – Our assembly was great, I was amazed at how well we did.

Rainbow Reading Zone!

Primary 4 have been working hard to create a fantastic reading zone outside our classroom! It’s a fun vibrant place to read and learn. We worked together in working groups to come up with the idea, design, created rules to follow and planned how it would work. Have a look-what do you think? 🙂
