Teddy Bear Enterprise

As a class we have decided to sell raffle tickets for a giant teddy bear to raise money for the school. We will sell tickets during lunch and the winner will be announced at the Christmas concert. We conducted surveys to begin with to gauge the level of interest and recorded our data on tally sheets. Over the next few weeks we have decided to use Google Sheets to record ticket sales to monitor profit and loss and number of tickets sold to each class. We will then generate and interpret the charts to find out how successful we have been!  Finally we will send out a Google Form for pupils in other classes to fill out to find out how we could change the enterprise for next year.

Summer Holidays!

Oh my goodness! Can you believe that we are at the end of Primary 5 already? Only two more days to go until we are off on holiday.

One of the highlights of our year was participating in Clyde in The Classroom. Looking after the trout fry was a great responsibility but also good fun.  We would recommend doing Clyde in the Classroom if you get the chance! Learning Mandarin with Chen Ni was also very good. We can’t wait to meet the new Mandarin teacher and develop our skills.                                                                                                                         Many of us are pleased with the improvements we have made in areas such as Maths, Reading, Writing, and Gymnastics.

Next session, we are looking forward to working with Miss McGarrity and Mrs McGurren in Primary 6. We hope to improve our skills in Art, Maths, P.E., Writing, Reading and many other things.

We will miss Mrs McCulloch and her fabulous multi-coloured hair! (It was fun waiting to see if it had changed colour over a weekend!) And how we always have to remind her to send down the register when she forgets. We always tell her off by saying,                            “M-r-s  Mc-C-u-l-l-o-c-h!!!”

We will also miss our friends Lucy and Matthew who are going to different schools in Primary 6. Good luck!

We hope everyone has a fabulous holiday, and see you in August

Numeracy

We have been working hard this term to improve our skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division by completing a 50-a-day task. This means that we have ten minutes to accurately complete fifty calculations each day. We correct each other’s work and calculate a percentage score. If we achieve 100% three weeks in a row in any of the disciplines, we move up to the next level of difficulty.

Already there are many people who have moved up! In addition, Ben G has reached level 2. In subtraction, Skye and Dylan are on level 2. In multiplication, Skye, Carys, James, Madison, Lauren H, Hannah, Lianna, Lauren McE, Caitlin, William, Ben M, Sameera and Grace are on level 2. In division, Carys, Hannah, Caitlin, William, Ben M and Grace have reached level 2.

We celebrate others success and achievements and learn to be determined to do our best.

The Daily Mile

Every class in school is taking part in the Daily Mile Challenge. daily-mile-james daily-mile-david

Every day, we try to complete a mile by running, jogging , walking or a mixture of all three.

Everyone is allowed to go at their own pace to complete the challenge – not everyone can run for ten or fifteen minutes! It is a bout developing our fitness and stamina.
