We have been learning about non-renewable and renewable energies and exploring the advantages and disadvantages.
We used our art skills to create symbols representing the 4 elements we can harness as energy sources. We also wanted to represent the importance of caring for the environment and our planet.
āWe have been exploring the festival Eid Al Ahad and learning about the customs and stories of Islam.
We created perspective pictures of the mountains featured in the story of Zam Zam and put the 5 pillars of Islam in the foreground.
In Art, we have been learning how to draw mandalas. A mandala is a circular pattern learn which grows from a central point. The word mandala comes from the old Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated it means ‘circle’. It is pronounced ‘mandle’.
To learn how to draw mandalas, we watched several on-line tutorial videos. These gave us some great ideas. After that we had one or two practice attempts. With each one, we improved our skills.
Here, you can see several of the mandalas from our class. We have examples from Ben M, Courtney, Dylan, Grace, Katie, Lianna and Madison.
Please let us know in the comments if you like them.
We used our ICT skills to research our Social Studies topic and found out that the Romans decorated their villas with mosaics. These are a great source of Primary Evidence about the Roman way of life. We recreated them in our Art using coloured paper tiles. It took a lot of time and effort, but as you can see, it was worth it!
Primary 2 have been looking at Sukkot this term. They made a Sukka in the class and decorated it with paper chains and flowers. They put a roof on the Sukka and put twigs and flowers on it. Everyone enjoyed this topic and had fun writing stories and making the Sukka.
Welcome to our class blog.
