Chinese New Year

This week in the garden the children have celebrating Chinese New Year through story, song and dance.

The children listened to the story of the Chinese New Year then used an emperor and animal costumes to retell the story.

While the dragon dance was played on the tablet some children used sticks on car tyres, the ground and metal lids to make music while others moved their bodies to the music in a dragon dance.

“I want to be the rat.”

“The rat was the winner of the race.”  (Staff)

“I’m playing the drum. Listen to this Mags.  I can hit the ground. “

“That sounds different.” (staff)

“I like being the dragon. He breaths fire.”

“I liked the spring on the dragon’s eye. Why is there fluff on his nose?”

“Rabbit, jump.”

“I was the king. The animals said I want a turn and I said stop.”
