Wooden weighing scales were introduced into the home corner in the Zickety Dickety Dock room to further develop the children’s interest in scales and to encourage their imagination and creativity.  The children asked for baskets and started to collect items from the home corner. As there was only two baskets children used boxes and adults help them attach ribbon to make more baskets and small stones were used as money.

Child A – “Who wants to be the costumer?”

Child B – “I need money to buy that!”

The children noticed that the pointer on the scales had moved and decided when the pointer pointed to number two the cost must be £2.00.
