Today the younger children in nursery have been exploring and experimenting using their senses touch, smell and their eyes to observe the changes in the cooking process. The children were problem solving “how we could put the long spaghetti inside the round bowl”. One child said, “Break it “. So the pasta was broken and it now fits in the bowl. The children then added dried basil and some water and he put it into the microwave to cook. After it was cooked and cooled down we added some oil and the children began to explore the mixture with their hands.
Encourage your child to feel a variety of materials, scoop and sort small objects, and experiment with the cause and effect of what will happen next.
