The children have been using different ingredients in the playroom to see what happens. They started off making a big bowl of play-dough together remembering the ingredients of ‘flour’, ‘oil’ and ‘water’. The children loved measuring out the ingredients and mixing it all together. Once the play-dough was made they discussed what it felt like and if it needed ‘more water’ or ‘more oil’. Then some of the children decided, with some help, they wanted to make a dinosaur and used the pictures in one of the books they had been reading to copy it.
Later in the day the children found a different experiment to make ‘squidgy squares’. Some of the children had done this before so were able to show everyone with the instructions that ‘it does this, then this, then this and this’ showing everyone the photographs on the packet. The children enjoyed watching the squares getting bigger and seeing what they looked like and felt like as they got bigger.
