“It’s dirty and bumpy.”

“I would like to plant carrots.”

“I would like to plant carrots.”

The children are continuing to clear the weeds from the vegetable patches and pots in the upstairs garden. Strawberry plants were moved from the vegetable plot and replanted in the planters.  The children thought the plants would then need water to help them grow.

In the afternoon while digging in the garden one child found a carrot growing in the vegetable plot.  There was much excitement.  Staff asked the children what they thought the herbs and the carrot would smell and feel like .

Indoors the children then planned what they would like to grow in the garden by producing drawings of their vegetable patch.
