It was a busy day in Arthurlie today. Parents in the purple group were invited in for a coffee and chat. They got the opportunity to be involved in activity whereby they were searching for letters of their name and used the tongs to fish out each individual letter. The children used their sign in name cards to match the letters where appropriate.
Furthermore, the children had been reporters and went outside to investigate the damage that was done in our garden due to the strong winds. The children came back in and reported to others that the play house was damaged and that the “roof was off it. It’s the wind. It made it blowed right off it.” The children made a video of their findings and also created a story for our Arthurlie newspaper.
In addition, the children have been learning about measure and were using different resources to discuss mathematical language such as longer/shorter and tallest/smallest. Whilst using the height chart, they instigated playing a game of “long jump” and were discussing who could get the furthest and reach the highest number. “I reached 10. I’m the furthest.
