Fine Motor Skills

  • Did you know that children’s fine motor skills are really important for learning to write?

By the time they are four years old most children should be able to:

  • Build a tower of 10 or more cubes
  • Hold and use a pencil with good control like an adult
  • Begin to write someĀ letters of the alphabet
  • Draw a person with head, legs and body, and usually, arms and fingers
  • Eat skilfully with a spoon and fork
  • Spread butter on bread with a knife
  • Brush their teeth
  • Undress and dress by themselves except for laces, ties and back buttons

We are giving children lots of opportunities to develop their fine motor skills…
