We had a busy day today in 3.11 as we wrote book reviews for our favourite book in celebration of World Book Day. The children were all given a book token worth £1 which can used for one of the ten books available that only cost £1 or the children can use these tokens to get £1 off of a book. It is available to use until the 26th March 2017 from local retailers such as Waterstones. We took a picture today to show off some of the fabulous costumes.
This afternoon, Mrs Gordon joined us in 3.11 as we were learning about food! We learnt how to made some very exciting dips! We made guacamole and raita and learnt all about food groups, health and safety and ingredients/materials. Please see the picture below of some children in action.

20 Years of World Book Day – Thursday, 2 March 2017
World Book Day, in partnership with schools all over the country, will be distributing more than 15 million £1 World Book Day book tokens to children.
When you get your book token, all you need to do is to take it to your local bookseller and swap it for one of the TEN books being sold at £1.
We are currently planning a number of exciting activities to mark World Book Day this year. We invite you to take part in any or all of the following suggestions:
To celebrate reading at home, take a picture of you and your child or your whole family reading. Tweet the picture and tag us @Mearns_Primary. We will retweet and share these pictures at assembly.
Bring your favourite book into school on World Book Day
Come to school dressed up as your favourite character on world book day
Write a short story or poem to share with your class
Today we were lucky enough to have Judo instructors in today to demonstrate a mini workshop in Judo. We teamed up with 3.12 and participated in some really cool Judo moves. We were given letters with information on how to join and also where and when these sessions take place. Most of the children thoroughly enjoyed it. Please click on the pictures below to see the picture in better quality and please see the letter that each child got for further information.
On Sunday the 26th of February, Mearns Primary are hosting a competition in collaboration with The Avenue.
