World Book Day – Thursday 2nd March 2017

20 Years of World Book Day – Thursday, 2 March 2017

World Book Day, in partnership with schools all over the country, will be distributing more than 15 million £1 World Book Day book tokens to children.

When you get your book token, all you need to do is to take it to your local bookseller and swap it for one of the TEN books being sold at £1.

We are currently planning a number of exciting activities to mark World Book Day this year. We invite you to take part in any or all of the following suggestions:

  • To celebrate reading at home, take a picture of you and your child or your whole family reading. Tweet the picture and tag us @Mearns_Primary. We will retweet and share these pictures at assembly.
  • Bring your favourite book into school on World Book Day
  • Come to school dressed up as your favourite character on world book day
  • Write a short story or poem to share with your class
  • Borrow a Literacy kit from school
