Spring Rolls

This week we are exploring Chinese New Year and today the children had the chance to make and taste vegetable spring rolls. They worked on their cutting, mixing and rolling skills. The results were delicious!

Dinosaurs

The children have been showing lots of interest in dinosaurs and when they arrived last week they were delighted to find that dinosaurs had arrived in Mearns Nursery!

They have been exploring different dinosaurs and asking plenty of interesting questions. Today they got to explore and create their own fossils.

Planning

We are excited to draw your attention to our new planning space in the Nursery. The board located across from the door will allow children, families and staff to pull their ideas and suggestions together to develop and enhance the planning within the nursery.

Families in the morning are welcome to add their thoughts to the side with green writing and families in the afternoon should contribute to the side with red writing.

We look forward to seeing all your great ideas!

The Lightbox

We were excited to create pictures on the light box this afternoon. At first we used our fingers to place things in our frames, then we used tweezers and finally we used some of the rods to make chop sticks and tried picking up items of different shapes. Some things were trickier to pick up than others!

Name the Fish

Sparkie our fish is still on his summer holidays, however we have had a new arrival! If you can think of a good name for our new fish pop it on a post-it and leave it next to the tank. The winning name will be chosen on Friday!

Sand

This afternoon sand proved to be very popular. There was scooping, digging, raking and building.
