Virtual Sports Day 2020

Welcome everyone to our Virtual  Sports Day.

We are very much looking forward to the sense of fun and healthy competition that we have become accustomed to at this event.

In total, we have 5 races planned for today. These are detailed below.

Patterns

There are different patterns all around us, in our homes and out in nature. Today we are going to go on a pattern hunt and then make some patterns of our own!

Activities

Go on a pattern hunt around your home, how many different patterns can you find?

Draw one of the patterns you have found in your home

Make a pattern using Lego blocks

When exploring the garden can you find naturally occurring patterns?

Use natural materials to create a repeating pattern

Potato print a 2D shape pattern

Challenge!

Fill a page with drawings of as many different patterns as you can think of!

Wednesday 13 May 2020 would have been our Sports Day!

So we may still enjoy this popular event we are asking you to get the following items ready.

  • 1 Toilet Roll
  • 1 Large Spoon
  • 1 Tattie/ Egg
  • 1 Cushion
  • 1 Cup
  • 3 Teabags
  • Variety of equipment such as very large empty boxes, hoops, pillow cases, cones, etc.

Details of races will be posted on Wednesday.

Today we are going to think all about numbers and counting!

Play a game of dominoes, if you don’t have any, why not make some?

Use chalk to draw a game of hopscotch and have fun playing it

Find a flower in the garden and count how many petals it has

Create a number line using natural  materials

Count how many soft toys you have

Look at playing cards and see how quickly you can  count the symbols on the cards.

Think about all the toys and games that you have to play with, which are your favourite ones?

Today you are going to find out from family members the types of toys and games that they enjoyed playing with when they were younger.

Ask family members of different ages and see if there are any similarities or differences.
