Our Planning Wall

The children continue to be interested in technology and our new technology area will be unveiled soon. There has also been a great deal of interest in sharks and other sea creatures which we are exploring in depth throughout STEM fortnight

Floating and Sinking

Yesterday Mr Foster came to work with the children to explore floating and sinking. The children explored molecule patterns in water and ice then talked about density and the properties of materials that float and sink.

There was lots of excitement and discussion!

Learning Together – At Home

Many of our parents have asked for ideas to support their children’s learning at home. In response we have created the Learning Together calendar.

The calendar, which will be released every month, will contain a suggested learning activity for each day of the month (which can be done in any order). Across the month the calendar will explore a range of curricular areas. How many activities will you and your child complete together in March?

We would love to hear all about your home learning journey and ask that if you take any photos of the activities you do that you put them in your child’s snapshot book or give us a copy to add to our Learning Together celebration wall.

Look out for the display area in the main Nursery corridor for more ideas on supporting learning at home and for the launch of our Rhyming, Reading and Numeracy bags.

Dams to Darnley Visitor

We were lucky this morning to have a visit from Joe, one of the Countryside Rangers from Dams to Darnley. He told us all about the animals that he protects in his job. We saw bats, buzzard wings and a herons leg bone.

The environment needs to be right for the animals to flourish so the park has long grass, ponds and wooded areas.

We learned about food webs and lots of interesting wildlife facts. Did you know that some bats can eat up to 3000 midges per night!

Thank you Joe!
