Caterpillar Diary: Day 4 & 5

Day 4 & 5:

The caterpillars are getting so big, eating up all the food at the bottom of their tub. They have even started to spin silk. Caterpillars spin silk so they can stick to leaves in the wild. If it is windy the caterpillars won’t blow away or get lost. Our caterpillars are using their silk to stick to the sides of tub and hang upside down!

Happy Holidays!

The nursery staff would like to wish all of our children and their families a happy holiday. We have loved playing and working with you all year and we are looking forward to welcoming new and existing children and families in August.

Take care and have lots of fun!

Caterpillar Dairy: Day 2

The caterpillars are certainly moving around a lot more this morning. They are starting to climb and eat the food at the bottom of their tub. However, there is still one that likes sleeping! We think it might be Thor.

They already look bigger. They were only one circle long yesterday. Today they are one and a bit.

Caterpillar Diary: Day 1

DAY 1: Welcome home caterpillars!

Today our caterpillars arrived. James was delighted to meet them and couldn’t believe how small they were. We had to look really closely to see their colours. After a lot of thinking, James wanted to name them after his favourite superheroes. Thor, Hulk, Captain America, Superman & Batman.

The caterpillars are black and brown with a very thin white line on their backs. They must be tired from their journey because they have sleeping most of the day! We can’t wait to see them start wiggling around.

Can you remember what ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ ate on his first day (Monday)? I’ll give you a clue. Sometimes they are red, sometimes they are green. They are also round…. No, not smarties 😉
