Brodie Gets Busy in the Kitchen

Brodie has been helping mum and dad to prepare meals. This has encouraged him to try new foods, especially different fruit and vegetables.

That carrot and spinach smoothie looks delicious, as does your aubergine dish. You look like you are certainly enjoying your new favourite fruit – watermelon!

After all that hard work in the kitchen, we are glad to see you are getting the chance to go out exploring.

People Who Help Us – Medical Staff

We are lucky to be surrounded by people who help us. Over the next few weeks we are going to learn about some of the different people who help us and the jobs they do. Today we are going to focus on Medical Staff.

Doctors, nurses and other medical staff work to keep us healthy and they help us when we are hurt or unwell.

Activities

How many parts of the body can you name?

Set up a teddy bear hospital.

Make a poster showing people how to wash their hands.

Talk to your families about how to call 999 in an emergency.

Sing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

Draw the  items that a doctor might keep in his medical bag

Challenge!

Make a card or poster to thank medical staff for all their hard work.

Planning Together

We hope that you had a relaxing Easter holiday, and that you have had a chance to explore some of the activities on the blog.

As always, we would like to work with our children and their families to plan and develop the learning experiences we provide to ensure they meet the children’s needs and interests.

If your child has new areas of interest you can let us know through the comments section allowing us to create ideas and activities to support and enhance those interest.

We look forward to hearing about the things your children would like to explore!

Fine Motor Skills – Weaving

This week we are going to explore different way of weaving, sewing or threading all of which develop hand and eye coordination as well as building up those finger muscles!

Activities

Use a variety of hole punches to make homemade lacing cards

Push spaghetti into a colander

Lace up a pair of shoes

Make holes in leaves and thread yarn through to make a necklace

Thread beads/pasta/cut up straws onto yarn/pipecleaners

Weave pipe cleaners or ribbon around railings or a cooling rack

Stack hooped cereal onto a strand of spaghetti

Weave yarn around sticks to make a spiders web

Challenge!

Think of another two weaving, sewing or threading ideas to try.
