Outdoor learning in the sun

What a great morning we had with the weather being ideal for our first outdoor learning session with Mrs Kelly. It was lovely and bright, but pretty chilly too!

We started off with some fun letter challenges before moving on to a problem solving challenge which proved to be way trickier than we realised…we will definitely work on it again next week too. 😊

Freaky Friday Fundraiser

The pitch opening was a huge success and everyone had lots of fun taking part in the various activities throughout the day! P7.25 completed all of the sponsored challenges and had a great time.

WW2 Models

The WW2 models P7.25 produced were all fantastic!! We showcased them in the gym hall so other classes could take a look at all of our hard work! We then evaluated our models based on the success criteria and got the opportunity to ask questions about all of our models.

Maths Week Scotland

We did lots of fun activities during Maths Week Scotland and included maths in some of our other subject areas!

Solar System Scale:

We saw that when we looked at images on the internet, the planets of our solar system seemed equally spaced out. We then tested this by dividing the distance from the sun by the scale (1 meter=150 million km) and spaced the planets out  based on the calculations across the playground.

Scavenger Hunt:

Mrs Paul had hid different calculations across our daily mile route we worked in pairs to find the answers. We did multiplication, division and word problems on the scavenger hunt.

PE fitness game:

Mrs Paul set out some objects and stuck numbers to them. We were put in teams of five and she shouted out numbers. We did a division where if she shouted 56 then the first person in the team would run to 7&8 and then run back. We also did a multiplication one were Mrs Paul might shout 4x_= 24 and you would have to run to 6.

Origami 3Dshapes and properties:

On youtube we followed along to a live origami webinar and learned how to make a cube and  it was very difficult. Only a few people managed to complete it but lots of other people made really cool things too.

Maths quiz:

We joined in with other Primary 7 classes across East Renfrewshire and took part in an online quiz. Before the online quiz we had been sent out a number of codes to crack. There was a round on famous mathematicians and general maths knowledge. We came 10th place in both rounds and got them all.

6.21 Bake off!

The 6.21 ‘Bake Off’ challenge was a great success.  Everyone who entered had fun baking a variety of yummy treats!

Diversity Day

Today we attended the P6 Diversity Day organised by East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure.  We learned about a variety of faiths and cultures and participated in activities with children from other schools.  We enjoyed learning dances, trying on traditional outfits and get hands on with religious artifacts.

We were also given a mug to decorate to remember Diversity Day which should  be baked in a non-preheated oven at 160 degrees Celsius for 90 minutes.

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to our blog!  We will be sharing our learning experiences throughout the year. We hope you enjoy our updates.
