Week beginning 3rd May

Although it was a short week this week, we certainly managed to pack lots in!

We began our show preparations with Mrs McVittie and enjoyed singing and coming up with ideas together.

We were lucky to have two visitors (Shreya’s mum and dad) who are both experienced doctors. They gave us a short presentation on First Aid then helped us learn in small groups the dos and don’ts of different first aid scenarios.

Unfortunately our sports day had to be cancelled as it was raining very heavily, it will be re arranged soon though.

We enjoyed a great Eid party in class where we listened to our friends describe how they celebrated Eid, watched some videos explaining a bit about what Eid and Ramadan mean and we enjoyed crisps and water very kindly donated by the Muslim families in our school. After all that we listened to some Bangra music and had superb fun dancing around the class.

Week beginning 28th March

Hello welcome to P7.28 and our weekly blog. This week Suhanna and Emma bring to you some of the highlights of the week.

We had a visit from Alison from the chaplaincy team who recapped some of the stories of Jesus leading up to Easter and got us thinking about how some activities are better and indeed easier in person rather than online or from a distance. Isabella and Sarthak acted as her assistants to help show this…..unfortunately we didn’t have any charge in the iPad to capture them in action though.

Here we are tackling one of our literacy tasks this week. We have some thinking involved in this activity… have a look and see if you can figure it out!?

Our teacher Mrs. Kelly gave us 1 cup for each table full of random pieces of paper, or so we thought! We had to figure out what those pieces of paper were to figure out our lesson. We joined a few papers together and figured it was Prefixes and Suffixes GENIUS FUN and LITERACY!

Another piece of learning this week involved some creative and fun art pictures to produce. Let’s take a quick look!

Mrs Kelly was fairly obsessed with keeping the pencils organised….she was also impressed at how well we did with putting them all back so well right enough!

We all made colourful, Creative birds and some of us even made our own imaginary birds with different colours than normal. We were tasked to create our own background, anything we liked, for example tropical or forest something like that. The best thing about this particular art work was that we used these special pencils called paint pencils. We first sketched our picture and our backgrounds and then we used a few selections of paint brushes with water and it turned into paint. But the best part of the art lesson was how everyone used their Creativity and imagination!

Easter Code

What a marvellous morning we enjoyed today at Newton Mearns Baptist Church. Our journey there and back was great with the weather staying dry and bright for us.

When we arrived we received a very warm welcome and were seated in our teams. We learned about the Easter story through watching a play, some video recordings, a competition, an animated film, taking part in a short drama and listening to the pastor. We were also delighted to be given juice and donuts and got to participate in some fun arts and crafts activities too!

A huge thank you you to everyone at the Baptist Church for giving us such a wonderful time.
