We have enjoyed doing some Christmas maths this week. We created some symmetrical snowflakes and used mental maths strategies to do Christmas colouring. We also had fun at our Christmas party!

Hearts for Homes
We have been learning about letter writing in class. We have also been talking about how this time of the year might be difficult for people who are not able to see family and friends. The class decided they would like to take part in the ‘Hearts for Homes’ campaign and send a decorated paper heart and message to the residents of a local care home. We hope this spreads a little bit of cheer!
Directions and Angles
We have been working on directional language and using degrees when giving instructions. The children enjoyed designing their own paths and seeing if these could be recreated using simple programming on logo. We also practised using compass points when giving instructions outdoors.
All around the world with P4.20
This week some of the children have shared their learning about their chosen country. We were fascinated to hear about lion tamarins, poison dart frogs, football and trains in Brazil, the Tokyo Tower and … square watermelons in Japan! Also, the important festival of Eid and the iconic Sydney Opera House amongst others.
