Defib Week

We have enjoyed having visitors into the class teaching us valuable first aid skills and how we could help save a life. We can explain the DRS ABCD which tells you the steps you must follow to help somebody who has collapsed.

Here are some pictures of us with our visitor from St Johns Ambulance learning how to give CPR and demonstrating how a defibrillator works.

Bacteria Multiplication

For Maths week Scotland we’ve been looking at how we can apply our maths skills in other areas of the curriculum. Today we looked at how maths relates to our Science topic – Germs.

Here are our comments about what we learnt about Bacteria Multiplication:

‘We used our Maths Skills to investigate bacteria.’

‘1 bacteria can make 5000 billion billion bacteria in a day.’

’A bacteria grows and then it splits in 2.’

’ Bacteria can make us sick.’

’Bacteria can double every 20 minutes.’

’Bacteria spreads when it is warm and moist.’

’Most people only get Chickenpox once.’

’Some bacteria are good bacteria.’

Here are our investigations:
