It recognises that some are already active and committed within their homes, schools, parishes and dioceses and it invites others to respond to God\u2019s call of love. It supports and celebrates the faith witness which young people give within their communities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sces.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/CARITAS-LOGO-WITNESS-SHAD.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-thumbnail wp-image-3378 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sces.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/CARITAS-LOGO-WITNESS-SHAD-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"CARITAS LOGO WITNESS SHAD\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Introduced in 2011, as part of a legacy of the UK visit of Pope Benedict XVI in September 2010, this award asks young people to use their faith\u00a0<strong>learning<\/strong>\u00a0as a starting point for further faith\u00a0<strong>reflection<\/strong>, leading to actions which show their faith\u00a0<strong>witness<\/strong>. Participants in the Caritas Award will be supported in deciding how they can develop and use their gifts in a way that witnesses to God\u2019s love (\u201cCaritas\u201d) in their communities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who can take Caritas?<\/strong> Any pupil in S6.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How is it delivered?<\/strong> There is a designated Caritas RE class who cover the core RE course alongside the Caritas Award. This class is taught by Mr Pearce.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are the requirements?<\/strong> Faith Learning and reflection: 5 short reflections through the year and one longer reflection at the end. Faith Witness: 20 hours of activities in the parish and 20 hours faith witness in school. Your hours are recorded on a log sheet which is submitted with the evidence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What kind of activities can be included?<\/strong> Anything that promotes or puts into action the Catholic faith.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;In School&#8217; hours will be achieved by attending CREDO club on a Friday lunchtime and helping with faith events in the school.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Out of School&#8217; hours will be achieved by involvement in your local parish and by a group project with St Joseph&#8217;s Care Home in Robroyston.<\/p>\n<p>At Turnbull High School, alongside the Caritas Award, we run the <strong>SQA Religion Beliefs and Values Award at Level 6.<\/strong> This enables pupil to achieve an additional qualification in RE using the same evidence as their Caritas Award. This qualification is appears on their exam results certificate at the end of S6.
