Those who enjoy success at National 5 can progress into Higher Modern Studies.

In this course pupils study the following topics:

• Democracy in the UK
• Social Inequaity
• Development in Africa

Within these topics, pupils will develop their essay writing skills and their ability to evaluate and analyse the main parts of contemporary issues within each topic.

Source handling skills will also be developed with individual unit assessments throughout the year.

Course grading is based on exam performance at the end of the year alongside an assignment on a current Modern Studies topic.
