Forth Road Bridge
On Tuesday 12th November 20 of our S3 and S4 Graphic Communication pupils visited the Forth Road Bridge where they learned about different types of engineering and had the chance to work in teams to complete a bridge building activity.
The groups started out with an open brief to design and build a bridge, with the only criteria being that they must use all the pieces in the kit. Both teams arrived at very different solutions, despite working to the same brief. The teams then had to work to a specific drawing with only one member of each group being allowed to look at the drawings for 30 seconds at a time. This meant that teams had to communicate effectively to complete the task.
After the bridge building and a bit of lunch, we finished our trip with a rather chilly walk along the Forth Road Bridge where we got some great views of the other two bridges.
