The P5s have been busy with an enterprising topic about elections. The children organised a campaign to elect a class captain with campaign speeches, ballot boxes and votes. The children took responsibility for all aspects of the event and we might see a few of them going into politics in the future!! Well done P5!
Playground Pals
Our Playground Pals and Peer Mediators do a great job of helping children to find friends in the playground. They are planning to lead a school assembly soon. Keep up the good work!
Nursery Transition
Our second nursery transition day was great fun. The children had an art and technology lesson making teddy bears. They can’t wait to start school in August!
Fun Science!
Mrs Hemming and Mrs Dun’s Fun Science club was a great success with the P3-5s. Lots of active learning. Well done boys and girls!
Loving Maths through Music!
The children are enjoying the ‘Loving Maths Through Music’ project which every class in the school are taking part in. The project aims at giving children confidence with their number work by combining it with musical games and rhymes. Miss Karen Geoghan from the National Youth Choir of Scotland is working alongside class teachers using the Kodaly method of teaching music to model music lessons and we hope the benefits will be raised attainment in both maths and music work.
Burns Supper January 2016
The children in P5-7 had a wonderful Burns Supper celebration on 29th January. Highlights included the piping in of the haggis, the address to the haggis, the story of Tam O’Shanter and the toast to the lassies and laddies. Thank you to Mrs Murray our wonderful storyteller and to Luke Stewart from Strathblane Primary who played the bagpipes for us.
