Just a final call for outstanding folio pieces to be emailed to me – I have to give them a final read through and I will pop them into the template for the SQA. Almost there with Nat 5, but Higher – you NEED to get on with your final drafts of reflective.

Both National 5 and Higher will be having a focus on close reading the next two weeks and finishing off any unit assessments. You NEED to be re-doing study notes and keeping up that revision.

Remember, that supported study is on for both levels on a Tuesday and is something that you should be going to. Don’t forget!

So,

Prelims are over. I’ve had many of your wee worried faces appearing at my door, wondering whether you have done enough and I have a couple of things to say about it.

Firstly, STOP. Stop worrying about whether you have managed to do enough – it is done.

Secondly, the decision about whether you had done enough wasn’t made when you were writing in the exam hall, it wasn’t even made when you were listening in class. The decision was made when you decided to go over your notes instead of watching Netflix for an hour. It was made when you reread your class text instead of reading Buzzfeed. It was made when you took the time to organise and go through your notes. All of these things would have been, and should have been, done WEEKS before you were writing in the exam hall and all of these things, coupled with listening actively in class, would have helped you to do enough.

Now, if you’re reading this with panic gnawing in your belly thinking that you didn’t do these things, I have good news for you. It may be too late to do that type of preparation for the prelims, but it is not too late to do it for your final exam. You can only sit this exam once a year. You have been working hard to get better. You can pass if you decide to put in the hard work.

But remember this, it is only you who can make this happen. I believe that you all can; but only if you put in enough effort and commitment.

Apologies N5 and Higher for my absence today; I had to deal with a potential zombie invasion. That sounds like complete rubbish — but it’s true.

I know some of you saw me around the school so I just wanted to post and update you. The S1’s were working with their registration teachers (I’m representin’ 1B) and each other to develop their problem solving skills and teamworking abilities. I was helping them to create a suit to protect against the scary mingling zombies who infect by spitting, vomiting or biting you. Who knew?
