Incy Wincy came to visit Meadowburn and this inspired curiosity and interest.

The children really enjoyed learning about spiders in the Art & Crafts Area.  This provided breadth and depth of learning as they were singing the rhyme, researching interesting facts and creating their own amazing spiders in their webs.

Children worked together in the construction site to build “our house”  They designed, constructed and co-operated then enjoyed playing in their house with others.  I can explore ways to design and construct, discovering different ways of representing my ideas in imaginative ways.

A group of children made their own cosy reading area outdoors in the sunshine.   I can communicate my thoughts and ideas when reading stories with my friends

Children made mobile phone holders in the woodwork area.  I followed safety rules, I developed my hand eye co-ordination, I developed a sense of pride in my product.

Loose Parts Play

“When children interact with loose parts, they enter a world of “what if” that promotes the type of  thinking that leads to problem solving and theoretical reasoning.  Loose parts enhance children’s ability to think imaginatively and see solutions, and they bring a sense of adventure and excitement to children’s play”.(Dale and Beloglovsky)

A world of wonder was created by two children.  They took their imaginations on  a journey together adding different pieces of interest as they went along.

“The rocks are on the top so the big animals don’t get out”

“They are dangerous animals”
