A health visitor becomes involved after a child is discharged from Midwifery Services, approximately 10 days old, and supports families until their child starts school. It is UNICEF baby friendly accredited. The children and families team consists of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Health Visitors<\/li>\n<li>Community Staff Nurses<\/li>\n<li>Nursery Nurses<br \/>\nHealth Care Support Workers<\/li>\n<li>Dental Health Support Workers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The health visiting team works closely with families and a wider primary care team, such as GPs, midwives, speech and language therapists, health promotion teams, school nurses, district nurses, specialist children\u2019s services and the voluntary sector.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>How to access the service:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Your health visiting team can be contacted by phoning the numbers above or via your GP surgery. The team also offers contact through a Birth to 5 drop in service and the Kirkintilloch Baby Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h4>Birth to 5 Years Drop in<\/h4>\n<p>The Birth to 5 Years Drop in offers a chance to meet other parents and carers to chat, share experiences and exchange suggestions.
