2-3 Playroom 14/11/22

In the literacy area we have been supporting the children interest in music and dance. Creating visual supports to allow all of the children to participate. This week we have been learning 3 current buns turn taking and dancing with our friends. Our jingle bells and twinkle star puppets are helping us to practice for our Christmas songs. Ask us all about our Christmas stars.

We have been exploring different ways to develop our Fine Motor Skills and concentration.  In our messy tray we investigated a dinosaur maze and frozen dinosaur eggs to include children’s interests from home as we find fun ways to learn new skills. We problem solved as we found different ways to help the dinosaurs escape. Our senses helped us to describe temperatures, textures and force.

Continuing the interest of dinosaurs we developed our numeracy skills counting from 1-5. Exploring what numerals look like and adding our pegs to the dinosaur spikes and counting out each amount to learn how many each numeral represents.

Over the past few weeks in the home corner the children have enjoyed cutting different resources such as pumpkins, potatoes, and fruit. This week we introduced scissors and spaghetti. Some children commented on the soft spaghetti and how it was easier to cut. This continues to support our fine motor skills and concentration.

In our loose parts area we have used our materials to print and talk about the different shapes they can create. Some children have been learning using their senses, we added shaving foam to our paint and recycled our cardboard to use as props in our construction area.
