Courses and Levels Taught in Department <\/strong><\/td>\nBGE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

S1 \u2013 French is taught 3 periods per week as the main language. Spanish and Gaelic are taught on rotation one period per week.<\/p>\n

S2 and S3 \u2013 At the end of S1, pupils choose to study French, Spanish or Gaelic. There can also be a combination of 2 languages. This language choice is continued through until S3.<\/p>\n

Gaelic (Learners) and G\u00e0idhlig are taught in the BGE. \u00a0In addition, our GME pupils have the opportunity to be taught a range of rotational subjects through the medium of G\u00e0idhlig, such as PSE, RE and Drama.<\/p>\n

SENIOR PHASE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

S4 \u2013 National 4 and 5 French or Spanish is currently available however,<\/a> it is expected that Gaelic will be available as a National Qualification soon.<\/p>\n

S5 and S6 \u2013 The possibility to study French or Spanish at National 5 or Higher level<\/a> is available. Pupils can also opt for a Spanish \u2018short course\u2019 which is taught twice per week \u2013 it is expected that pupils would be able to achieve National 4 through this course.<\/p>\n
