A group of our pupils ranging from S2 to S6 made a visit to the site of the new Kilmarnock Academy just before the Easter break. As part of the schools Design Engineer Construct project, the pupils were invited to the site where they could speak to a wide range of professionals who are involved with the build. Pupils were also given a guided tour around the new school and were amazed at how far through the build the school is. The pupils were a credit to the school and showed enthusiasm and excitement towards the project. Roll on April 2018!!!
Construction is one of the most important, dynamic and varied industries in the UK and on 28th March 2017, Kier Construction will open the doors of the William McIlvanney Campus to the public. This will give people a rare chance to see what goes on behind the scenes of a big build. Organised by the Build UK and Go Construct, the aim is to highlight the vibrancy of the industry and the numerous and varied roles within construction.
Places are limited and must be pre-booked by following this link.
The construction of our new school continues and staff have been visiting the site with interest.
Kier Construction, our lead contractor, are now in week number 53 of a 108 week build programme and are still on programme to hand over in March 2018. They have commenced internal fit out on all floors—with erection of partitions & installation of mechanical & electrical services. The envelope is progressing well and we expect the build will be wind and water tight by early April.
