[<span>Art<\/span>] Create your very own musical instruments!&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/public\/wbank18beech\/uploads\/sites\/8695\/2020\/05\/10193734\/art-300x256.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"46\" height=\"39\"><\/p>\n<p>You can make an instrument out of just about anything &ndash; as long as it makes a sound.&nbsp; Your challenge is to create a musical instrument out of household items.&nbsp; It can be a shaker made from a plastic bottle with rice inside, or a drum made out cardboard boxes and a wooden spoon, or even something a bit more creative.&nbsp; Have fun experimenting with all the different sounds and instruments you can make.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/artsycraftsymom.com\/diy-musical-instruments-for-kids-to-make-and-play\/\">Here <\/a>is a link for some great ideas in case you do feel like getting crafty!<\/p>\n<p>Task 2.&nbsp; [<span>Literacy<\/span>] Sound Stories.&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/public\/wbank18beech\/uploads\/sites\/8695\/2020\/05\/10193710\/tell-story-300x256.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"39\" height=\"33\"><\/p>\n<p>Create sound effects for a story!&nbsp; An excellent sensory experience that lots of us really enjoy is a sound story, which is basically a story that has props that helps us to make the sounds that are inside a story.&nbsp; A good story to create sound effects for is &lsquo;We&rsquo;re Going on a Bear Hunt&rsquo; by Michael Rosen. There is even a very well know song that goes with this story! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jovL-4j4fro\">Here<\/a> is a link to a Youtube video of someone who has created very simple sound effects using mostly household items.&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.readingconfetti.com\/2011\/08\/were-going-on-bear-hunt-sound-activity.html\">Here<\/a> is another link to give you some other prop ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Task 3. [<span>Science<\/span>] Explore sound.&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/public\/wbank18beech\/uploads\/sites\/8695\/2020\/05\/10193529\/sounds-300x256.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"41\" height=\"35\"><\/p>\n<p>You will need a large bowl (glass works best), clear plastic wrap or clingfilm, a radio\/CD player (or anything that makes a loud noise) that can be placed close to the bowl or vice versa and either grains or rice or small bits of scrunched up tissue paper. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=37csXse35YQ\">Here<\/a> is a link to watch the experiment being done.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>How high can you make the rice jump?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What was your favourite sound to make?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Task 4. [<span>Music<\/span> and <span>Science<\/span>] Create a water xylophone.&nbsp;&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/public\/wbank18beech\/uploads\/sites\/8695\/2020\/05\/10193400\/music-300x256.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"42\" height=\"36\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=sIO-JhMvu6M\">Here<\/a> is a link to show everything you will need and what the end result should look like!&nbsp; &nbsp;The idea is to demonstrate that when you strike the glass, it vibrates which creates a sound. &nbsp;The depth of the water inside the glass determines the pitch of the sound.&nbsp; Try to figure out which glasses make high pitched sounds and which glasses make low pitched sounds!&nbsp; Can you make a sound pattern or melody?&nbsp; Have fun experimenting with the different sounds and sound patterns you can make together!<\/p>\n<p>Task 5 [<span>ICT<\/span>] <strong>*Digital Learning Week*&nbsp;&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/ea\/public\/wbank18beech\/uploads\/sites\/8695\/2020\/05\/10193116\/ICT-devices-300x256.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"41\" height=\"35\"><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/teach\/bring-the-noise\/eyfs-ks1-music-play-it-bring-the-noise\/z4sq92p\">This<\/a> excellent music resource from the BBC allows you to experiment with instruments, sounds and songs &ndash; try it out on your iPad or tablet!<\/li>\n<li>Our favourite and most requested song in the Beech class before lockdown was &lsquo;<em>Dance Monkey<\/em>&rsquo; by Tones and I.&nbsp; There are lots of dances and Zumba routines that people have made up to go along with this song!&nbsp; See if you can find one and dance along to it!&nbsp; Participate in any way you can &ndash; you might want to play along using the instruments you made earlier!&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GRM9h8EQ6Bw&amp;list=RDGRM9h8EQ6Bw&amp;start_radio=1\">This<\/a> <\/strong>is my favourite <em>Dance Monkey<\/em> dance as the smallest &lsquo;dancer&rsquo; made me smile <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/12.0.0-1\/72x72\/1f60a.png\" alt=\"&#128522;\"><\/li>\n<li>Download this virtual piano game on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.twinkl.co.uk\/resource\/tg-ga-168-twinkl-tunes-virtual-piano-game\">Twinkl<\/a> <\/strong>to experiment with notes and tunes.<\/li>\n<li>Remember to keep an eye on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCO8X0H0obzKUhVcShyitQDg\/videos\"><strong>Youtube<\/strong> <\/a>channel for any new dances by Mrs Murray!<\/li>\n<li>Some music and dance apps that are free to use or download are <strong>GoNoodle<\/strong>, Just Dance Now, Kids Music and GarageBand (Apple software only). Simply type in the name of the app into your app store then download.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>Remember &ndash; all activities are simply <strong>suggestions<\/strong> and completely non-obligatory.&nbsp; You can try one or try them all, totally up to you!
