School Uniform – Helping everyone feel included, comfortable and proud<\/strong>

\nWhy We Have a School Uniform<\/strong>
\nAt Willowbank School, we have our school
\nuniform to help everyone feel part of the same
\nteam. It shows that we belong, that we\u2019re
\nproud of our school and that we respect each
\nother.<\/p>\n

Our uniform is designed to be simple,
\ninclusive, affordable and flexible. We have
\nrecently consulted with our Pupil Council and
\nParent Council to ensure our policy is modern
\nand has choices within it, so children can
\nwear what suits them best while still feeling
\npart of the Willowbank community.<\/p>\n

Uniform Suppliers<\/strong>
\nClothing with the school logo is available to
\npurchase from myclothing.com<\/a> and
\nAyrshire Schoolwear<\/a>. However, plain
\ngarments from supermarkets or local shops
\nare fine too.<\/p>\n

Footwear<\/strong>
\nComfortable and practical shoes or trainers
\nshould be worn. These do not need to be any
\nparticular style or colour.<\/p>\n

Physical Education<\/strong>
\nHealth and Wellbeing, including time
\noutdoors, is really important for our learners.<\/p>\n

For PE, pupils should have a t-shirt, shorts or
\njoggers and indoor shoes. For Outdoor
\nLearning, all learners should have a good
\nwaterproof jacket, boots or wellies and
\nweather-appropriate clothing.<\/p>\n

What Pupils Can Wear<\/strong>
\n\u2022 Royal or navy blue sweatshirt, cardigan or hoodie
\n\u2022 Light blue or white polo shirt, t-shirt or shirt
\n\u2022 Black or navy trousers, skirt, shorts or leggings<\/p>\n

Jackets, fleeces, school bags, PE kit bags and caps with the school logo are also available to
\npurchase.<\/p>\n

Flexibility and Comfort<\/strong>
\nWe understand that some pupils need adjustments to their uniform. This might be because of sensory sensitivities, medical equipment or cultural\/religious reasons. These are always welcomed and supported. We want every pupil to feel safe, nurtured, and respected<\/p>\n

No child will ever be made to feel upset or embarrassed if their uniform looks different.<\/p>\n

Help with Costs<\/strong>
\nWe know clothes can be expensive and being included means making sure every child has what they need. Families can apply for school clothing grants through East Ayrshire Council<\/a>. If you need any help, please contact us. We\u2019ll always handle things sensitively and confidentially.<\/p>\n

We also encourage families to use current uniform for as long as it fits and it is still in good condition. Please do not buy any new items until you need to. Uniforms with our old logo are still absolutely fine.<\/p>\n

Jewellery, Hair and Personal Style<\/strong>
\nWe encourage pupils to come to school clean, comfortable, and ready to learn. Jewellery should be small and safe for play and PE. Hair can reflect your child\u2019s culture or personality. Bright colours and styles are fine as long as they don\u2019t cause distractions or safety risks.<\/p>\n

We celebrate individuality. Feeling respected and responsible for our appearance helps children build confidence and self-esteem.<\/p>\n

Inclusion and Equality<\/strong>
\nWe are proud to be an inclusive school. Everyone is treated fairly and equally and our uniform expectations never discriminate against anyone. We respect cultural, religious, medical and personal needs. If something doesn\u2019t work for your child, please talk to us and we\u2019ll find a solution together.<\/p>\n

Communication and Review<\/strong>
\nWe will share this uniform information each year and welcome your feedback. If you have any questions or requests for adjustments, please speak with Mrs Smallwood or Mr Campbell Caldwell. This policy will be reviewed every three years, with input from pupils, families, and staff.<\/p>\n
