Positive relationships, positive behaviour and respect for others in the school and local community is a vital part of school life at Willowbank.\u00a0 It is one of the elements which make up the positive ethos of the school where our pupils are learning in a happy and purposeful environment.<\/p>\n

The need for acceptable standards of behaviour is incorporated in pupils\u2019 social education.\u00a0 Staff work extremely hard to develop excellent relationships with pupils.\u00a0 Positive relationships are encouraged and all pupils are supported by staff to display socially appropriate, positive behaviours at all times.<\/p>\n

If a pupil is experiencing difficulties in regulating their behaviours, families are informed and are involved in planning strategies to reduce these behaviours. We see this as a good example of staff and parents working together for the benefit of the pupil.<\/p>\n

The school follows the Crisis Prevention Intervention model of promoting positive behaviour and creating a setting of safe environments and safe adults around the young people.\u00a0 Each young person has a Safe Plan which staff keep up to date.\u00a0 These are based on nurturing principles and are fully trauma-informed.\u00a0 All staff regularly undertake professional learning in order to understand behaviour as communication.\u00a0 This is particularly important when considering behaviour in line with specific barriers to learning, e.g. Autism, ADHD or Fragile X Syndrome.<\/p>\n

All schools in East Ayrshire follow the guidance outlined within the council\u2019s Anti-Bullying \u2013 Respect for All Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n
