Visitors from Doon, Grange, Kilmarnock, Loudoun and Stewarton Academies joined a group of S1-S3 Auchinleck pupils to enjoy a talk by artist Tom Foster who took them through the different steps it takes to create pages for comics and graphic novels.

Tom showed them examples of how his own work on Judge Dredd progressed from planning, through rough drafts, pencil sketches, inking and colour. He also spoke about some of the equipment, books, programs and apps he has used and made an on the spot drawing of Marvel’s Thanos which was presented to the lucky pupil who requested it. Tom’s visit was funded by the Scottish Book Trust’s Live Literature programme and East Ayrshire School Libraries.
