Hello Primary 3/4

Hello P3/4 it is so nice to finally meet you all. Happy New Year!

My name is Miss Black and I will be your teacher for the rest of the year. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families and Santa Claus made your dreams come true. It all feels like such a distant memory now!

For the next few weeks or so you will be learning online. Each day I will post the daily plan on Microsoft teams for you all to access under the folder ‘Daily Plans January 2021’. I will also have the chance to meet a few of you in the school hub. Some of the activities will be through PowerPoint or in certain folders on Teams but don’t worry I will always make sure you know where to access it. There will also be a variety of activities here, on our class blog.

You can post your work via your Glow account or if you would rather email me your work you are more than welcome to do that too.

The next few weeks are going to be a bit crazy boys and girls but please do not worry!! Do what you can, when you can and if you are ever unsure of anything or have any questions then please do not hesitate to email me. I will try and reply to you as soon as possible. I am in the school Hub this Thursday and Friday, the 14th and 15th of January so I will try my very best to reply to your questions or emails as soon as I can.

We have done it once before and we can do it again! Hopefully it won’t be too long until we are able to meet in person and get back to a school routine!

Remember anything you need or any questions you have at any time, just ask!

The Summer Reading Challenge is back with Silly Squad!

It’s almost time for this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, and for 2020 it’s all about funny books, happiness and having a laugh!

The Silly Squad is a team of animal friends who love to go on adventures and get stuck in to all different kinds of funny books. This year, our Challenge features extra special characters designed by the award-winning author and illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson, who you’ll know from amazing reads like Amelia Fang and Evil Emperor Penguin!

You can join the Silly Squad on a new adventure by setting your own personal reading challenge to complete this summer. The new online platform will help you keep track of your books, reviews and the rewards you unlock along the way.

As always, you will find loads of brilliant book suggestions to get you started, and tips on how you can keep reading even while schools and libraries are closed. You will also have heaps of super silly activities, quizzes, videos, games and more to keep you entertained at home!

Silly Squad officially begins here on Friday 5 June 2020.

Bubble Snakes!

What you need: a plastic bottle, an elastic band, a  sock that is missing its match, dish soap and food colouring (optional).

What you do: First,  ask an adult to cut the bottom of your water bottle off. Next,  slide the sock over the bottom of the bottle.  Then, use the elastic band  to secure your sock. After, pour some dish soap into a shallow container with a little bit of water and gently mix it. You can drop some food colouring onto the sock covered end, too,  if you want to add some colour on your bubble snake! Dip the sock covered bubble blower into the solution and gently blow.

Foam paint making!

For the following foam paint recipe you will need some shaving cream, PVA glue and food colouring!

Mix equal parts shaving cream and glue into a ziplock bag, add your desired food coloring and then, with the bag sealed, squish the bag together until all your ingredients are nicely mixed together.  Then cut off a corner at the bottom of the bag and use it like you’re piping icing. Once your art has been completed, set it aside so the foam can dry and solidify overnight.
