Weekly round up! 😃

Good afternoon and welcome to our weekly news round up for St Patrick’s Primary.   P7 pupils will be responsible for organising this Blog post.

Another busy week. It is hard to believe that it is only our 2nd week back.

Our week started with a wonderful treat as Mrs McCrorie came in for a visit with her guitar to teach us the Scottish Songs for our Burns Event.  It was so lovely to see her.

This week we had our whole school assembly about Resilience.  We discussed that it is ok to make mistakes.  We looked at different ways of dealing with situations and the importance of not giving up.  Mrs Sinclair read the story ‘The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes’.  We all enjoyed it!

Also this week, we had our first Learner Participation groups of the New Year.  The whole school participates in different mixed groups from P1-7.  We look at our action plans and discuss and organise events and activities for our school.  Great team work!

Very busy  in all our classes this week.  In P1 they have been busy learning Ball skills in PE.  It was wonderful to see them in action!  A few future footballers in that class.

P1 also looked at their Scots poem and Scottish Art work.  Keep up the great work P1!

In P2/3 they were learning doubles and friendly numbers in Numeracy.  As part of our exploring Scottish Culture theme they were doing Red, Red Roses in Art.  Wonderful effort this week P2/3

P3/4 were very busy in writing this week.  Lots of detailed planning and selecting information.  They also had great fun painting tartan for their fabulous Scottish art theme.  Can’t wait to see your work on the wall!  Well done P3/4!

In  P5 lots of great work as they have been reading ‘The Legend of the Loch Ness Monster’ in class and decided to have a Nessie theme for their Scottish Art. Your Art will look fabulous P5!

P6 participated in some leadership games with our Active Schools co-ordinator Barry. They had to work together and plan games and activities for the playground.   They were doing lots of work in Literacy with their Scottish Poem- ‘The Auld Broon Troot’. Great team effort P6.

In P7 lots of work on Angles and Bearings in Maths.  We also presented our Robert Burns PowerPoints as part of our Listening and Talking Presentations.  A busy term ahead for P7.

We hope you enjoyed our weekly roundup.

Have a nice weekend.

Happy new year!🎉

Hello! 🌊

Welcome back to the P7 blog,

We hope that you had a lovely Christmas and New Year.🎄

For P7, the year has been off to a busy start.  Lots to look forward to including our annual Burns event coming up.

P7 selected a new poem for the Burns event named “Embdy Lost a Jaicket?” Although we were in two minds whether to pick this or the classic “Sergeant Snoddy”.

We have been focusing on our Scottish culture and have been looking into the Scots language. An example of this was when we read “The Three Wise Men fae the East” from the Scottish gospel as our RE task.

We have also been researching Robert Burns, his poems and famous songs. In particular we have been focusing on our Robert Burns presentations and information reports.

As part of our Robert Burns research we have been painting his childhood home, ‘The Burns Cottage’.  This was a challenging lesson as we were exploring perspective line drawings.

In Numeracy this week P7 have been focusing on angles. We have mostly been working on acute angles( less than 90 °) obtuse (between 90 ° and 180 °), right (90 °) ,reflex angles (between 180 ° and 360 °) and straight angles (180 °).

We were also drawing angles and calculating missing angles.

In PE we have been focusing on ball games and competitive basketball skills.

That’s all for this week!😎

We will continue to type in the blog every few weeks to keep you updated.

Thank you from Primary 7.
