Dear Families of Primary 2,
Mrs Bradley has loved being in the P2 class on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Your children have been working very hard and have taken part in a whole range of learning. We wanted to share some of that learning with you.
Expressive Arts
We have been learning to keep the pulse through a song called ‘Hey You!’. Primary 2 learners are really good at keeping the pulse and they used percussion instruments today to share the song with Mrs Sinclair.
Numeracy
We have been developing our subitising skills. This helps children to develop an accurate sense of number and develop mental agility skills. We also developed our recall skills in addition to 20 by using ten frames to make total 10s.
Literacy
We were using our ‘Find It’, ‘Prove It’, ‘Talk About It’ strategies to explore a scots poem called The Dinosaur. We used clues from the poem to work out the English word to match the Scots words used. If you want to talk to your child about the poem the link is included. Ask your child what the words ‘muckle’, ‘lang’, ‘aroon’ and ‘bairns’ mean.
Digital Learning
We have been learning that an algorithm is a set of instructions. We were able to use programmable robots to show our understanding of coding. Some of us even created mazes that we programmed our robots to move around. Great Team Work!
We developed our word processing skills by using the shift key and changing the size, colour and font of text. We developed lots of skills in using the keyboard and mouse.
RE
We celebrated mass with the whole school for All Saints Day on the 1st of November. We then discussed what we thought Saints were like. We also learned that the 2nd of November is All Souls Day. We know that in the month of November we remember all those who have died.
Well done P2 such talented young people you all will go far.
