This week our learners took part in elections for our Pupil Leadership Team.\u00a0 A huge thanks to all those who put themselves forward for this role and thank you to all our families and staff for the support given in helping children prepare for this.<\/p>\n

We are delighted to announce that the following pupils have been elected:<\/p>\n

P1 – Ollie, Marlene<\/h5>\n
P2 – Kaleb, Myia<\/h5>\n
P3 – Karah, Elliot<\/h5>\n
P4\/5 – Ayva, Derri, Ben<\/h5>\n
P5\/6 – Allyssa, Katy<\/h5>\n
P6\/7 Oran, Haidarali, Tyla<\/h5>\n

There are 3 members from P4\/5, P5\/6 and P6\/7 to ensure that each year group is represented by two pupils.\u00a0 \u00a0We are sure you will join us in congratulating our new Pupil Leadership Team.\u00a0 We have the first few tasks ready for them to take forward.<\/p>\n

There will be other leadership opportunities available for pupils in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Next Week is a busy one with lots of national initiatives.<\/p>\n

Scottish Book Week<\/strong>\"\"<\/a><\/h4>\n

All pupils in P1 will be gifted a ‘Bookbug’ bag and P2 & P3 pupils will receive ‘Read, Write, Count’ bags.\u00a0 These contain books for families to share at home along with other ideas for learning at home.<\/p>\n

Anti – Bullying Week – ONE KIND WORD<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As part of this week’s Big Talk homework we will be exploring kindness and the effects of showing kindness to one another.\u00a0 This is linked to the theme of this year’s Anti-Bullying theme – One Kind Word.<\/p>\n

FoodBank Collection Point\/ Pope Francis Faith Award<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We are collecting donations for the East Ayrshire Foodbank.\u00a0 Donations will be accepted from next week and up until Friday 10th December.\u00a0 This is being supported by pupils working towards the Pope Francis Faith Award.<\/p>\n

Items that can be accepted are :<\/p>\n

Tinned meat, <\/u>Tinned potatoes, <\/u>Pasta, <\/u>Pasta Sauce, <\/u>Tinned Vegetables, <\/u>Long life milk, <\/u>Tea, <\/u>Coffee, <\/u>Sugar, <\/u>Tinned or packet soup, <\/u>Tinned beans and <\/u>Tinned fruit.\u00a0 No perishable items can be donated.\u00a0 Thank you.\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Winter Warmer<\/h4>\n

We will be helping St. Joseph’s Academy with their winter warmer appeal by providing a service from Auchinleck.\u00a0 We will accept all outdoor winter clothing for adults and children from next week.\u00a0 Items should be clean and in a useable condition.\u00a0 We will be using the church hall to distribute these and will have further information about the dates and times for this.<\/p>\n

Changes to the School Day<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Thank you to all those who took part in our consultation about changes to the staggered stat and finish times. We had over 70% of our families responding.\u00a0 The majority of these responses were in favour of streamlining the school day and having all pupils start and finish at the same time.\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We have taken on board the additional comments that were made.\u00a0 The changes will not take effect until we return to school after the Christmas break.\u00a0 \u00a0All changes to\u00a0 transport times will be communicated to families before any change.\u00a0 \u00a0A number of you have concerns over the traffic and road safety.\u00a0 We will work together with our JRSO pupils to campaign about traffic management and road safety.\u00a0 Our message will continue to be to walk to school where possible or to consider parking a little further from the school and walking the remainder of the journey.<\/p>\n

Golden Book<\/h4>\n

Fr Phillip’s Visit\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Fr Phillip has started his weekly visits to the school.\u00a0 This morning he visited P6\/7 and talked to them about the Poppy and remembrance.\u00a0 He also joined the class in their ‘Big Talk’ discussions as they remembered their own loved ones who have died.<\/p>\n

Twitter Takeover<\/h4>\n

Next week sees the first of our ‘Twitter Takeovers’. P6\/7 will be responsible for ensuring all the great learning from their class is shared on twitter.\u00a0 You can follow the school twitter @eacStPatricksPS.\u00a0 Look out for all classes having their takeover turn in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

December Diary Dates\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We will issue dates for your diary next week.\u00a0 This will include the dates of Christmas parties, Christmas lunch etc<\/p>\n

Round up of Learning<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We were joined by Meg From ACDI who helped us replant our vegetables in our school garden.<\/p>\n

Using what they observed at The Knowe, P6\/7 created their own poems.<\/p>\n

P5\/6 used a wax resistance technique and water colours\u00a0 to create remembrance themed art.<\/p>\n

P1 created poppy themed art and were inspired by online firework displays to enhance expressive arts through singing and dance.<\/p>\n

P5\/6 explored the meaning of resilience through BounceBack.<\/p>\n

Enjoy looking at the photographs and talking to your child about what is happening in school.<\/p>\n
