The Support for Learning department operates to support, consult and advise young people – and those concerned in their education and welfare – who require some additional support with their learning to enable them to achieve their fullest potential. We also, therefore, seek to identify, assess, make provision for, monitor and review those who require additional support. In doing so we take a holistic view of young people and their circumstances, and what supports they require to achieve their potential.

We have highly qualified and experienced staff who work with young people, parents, teachers and other professionals, to ensure that appropriate support and encouragement is provided to those who require it. We encourage them to access the curriculum at all levels, with an emphasis on their becoming sufficiently confident to take control of their own learning as they progress through school and beyond. We invite young people, parents and teachers to work together in this process.
