Wear Something Purple Day

On Friday 23rd February there will be a ‘wear something purple day’ to celebrate LGBT+ History Month. Pupils are invited to wear something purple such as a scarf or t-shirt with their uniform. Please note that tomorrow is not a non-uniform day.

LGBT+ History Month in the UK started in 2005 and February was chosen to coincide with the abolition of Section 28, a law that said local authorities must not “intentionally promote homosexuality”. The theme for 2024 is to celebrate and recognize the contributions of the LGBT+ community to various fields, including Medicine and Healthcare.

Visit from charity 4ward2gether

On Monday the Equalities and LGBTQ+ Group had the pleasure of welcoming John and Courtney from the charity 4ward2gether.  This charity focuses on helping to bring together communities and teach everyone the message of diversity and inclusion and to combat prejudice. John spoke to the group and outlined how they help to reduce many forms of discrimination such as sexism, ageism, homophobia, sectarianism and so on. The group found the talk along with the question and answer session very interesting and we look forward to welcoming the charity back in the near future.

YPI Finals

Last Tuesday our YPI winning group attended the YPI National Event at Perth Concert Hall. The theme of this year’s event was #YPI15 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the initiative in Scotland. Over 1000 pupils, staff, funding partners and charities attended to celebrate pupil achievements. Our pupils enjoyed a range of presentations from schools across Scotland, motivational speeches from Sir Ian Wood, Dee Bleakley and Rosalind Main from the ‘I Am More’ campaign and musical performances from Ben Walker and Callum Beattie. The event was a fantastic opportunity for Ava, Beth, Elizabeth, Joscelyn and Ruby to reflect on their philanthropic journeys and to consider how we as a school can continue to make a difference and promote rights for all. The pupils were are credit to the school and demonstrated our school values. A great day was had by all!

Bottle and Choc staff donations through Dress as you Please!

The Parent Council have asked that Monday 19th June be a dress as you please day in support of the BBQ and Summer Fun Evening.

We are not asking for cash in relation to this dress as you please event.

We understand that we are living in a challenging financial climate at the moment so there is no obligation to donate anything. However, if you are able, we are looking for prizes for the Choc and Bottle Stall.

Therefore, we are encouraging young people to donate an item of chocolate and a bottle of something which can be used on this stall.

Ideally a mix of items works well on this stall so please know that we will accept the whole range or donations from shampoo to champagne; mars to milk tray.

Pupils should bring any donations in to the school on Monday 19th June. Members of the parent council will be ready to receive them.

Please note that parents/ carers should hand in any alcoholic drinks to the school office directly, rather than sending these in with a young person.

Important S1-S3 Prize Giving Update – time alterations for Tue 6th June 2023

Important Message for all Parents/ Carers and Pupils S1, S2 and S3 only – who are attending Prize Giving on Tuesday 6th June 2023

We have had an exceptionally large and positive engagement and interest in Prize Giving this session. In particular, the demand for tickets from supportive parents, carers and family members has been far higher than in previous sessions.

In order to accommodate the numbers involved we have taken the decision today, to separate Prize Giving for S1 – 3 on Tuesday 6th June into two sections.

(Please note that the S4-6 Prize Giving on the following evening is not affected).

New timings are as follows:

S1 and S2 Prize Giving – 6.00 pm – 7.00 pm

S3 only Prize Giving 7.15 pm – 8 pm

Please contact the office if this adjustment of times causes any difficulties for you as a family as we have contingency plans in place for this scenario.
Please note that if you have a child at Prize Giving for S1-2 and another child in the S3 Prize Giving your tickets will be valid for both slots on the evening.

Please let the office know if you have requested tickets but are no longer able to attend.

We apologise for altering these arrangements at this stage but we trust that this change will result in a more condensed and pleasurable experience for all.

School App

Dear Parents/Carers

We understand that some parents and carers have had difficulty using the new school app.  The letter below, gives detailed instructions about how to log in.

It is necessary to download and register for the app, before you try to register for Stewarton Academy.

Once you have down loaded and registered, you need to search for Stewarton Academy in the search bar. You will then be asked to input your entry code – for Stewarton parents/ carers it is 1990 and click ‘Submit’. You’ll be asked to confirm this by clicking ‘Continue’.

The App has many features – not all of these are switched on. The main feature we are using just now is the News section for school announcements.

Please contact the school office on 01560 482 342 if you have any log in difficulties.
